Substratum is a work in progress, the next phase of Lin and Forrester’s collaboration, a piece imagined on a rigid white cube, 1m x 1m — a sculptural plinth, evoking a museum display. Within this confined space, a body slowly awakens from stasis. Limbs twist, dissolve, and merge, until the human form disappears, replaced by a living, shifting mass — somewhere between rock and algae.

Accompanied by a deep, immersive soundscape, the body struggles against its own stillness, evoking an ancient being returning to life. The audience becomes observer, like scientists witnessing a strange transformation — the slow rebirth of an entity lost in time.
